Marissa Kusunose PT, DPT, NCPT
Originally from Santa Rosa, California, Marissa received her undergraduate degree from University of California Irvine in 2012. Marissa moved to Boulder after earning her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Miami in 2016.
Marissa completed her comprehensive rehabilitative training through world renowned Polestar Pilates in August 2015, and became nationally certified through the Pilates Method Alliance in October 2015.
After developing back pain during graduate school, Marissa used Pilates as the tool to rehabilitate her own body and learned first hand the power Pilates can have in a rehabilitative setting. After experiencing the powerful benefits of Pilates personally and through teaching, Marissa knew that she needed to use Pilates in her assessment and treatment to facilitate healing in her patients. Marissa's goal is to create a positive movement experience for her patients, focused on precision, control, and efficiency of movement in a fun and supportive environment.
In addition to her expertise in Pilates, Marissa believes in the power a Counterstrain. She has taken multiple courses through The Jones Institute and already completed a Counterstrain mentorship program. She plans on pursuing this technique further in her coming years as a Physical Therapist.
In her spare time Marissa enjoys traveling, hiking, playing soccer, running, and spending time with her fiance, their new puppy, family, and friends.
